In 1950, grandpa Luigi Donati came across Montestigliano. He was a young entrepreneur from Le Marche, who had made a small fortune producing tobacco and was now looking for a place to retire and settle. After several years of searching up and down the country for the perfect place, as he would say “for a majestic place to retire in”, he found Montestigliano.
When he passed, his firstborn, Giancarlo Donati, inherited the property and business of Montestigliano. He decided to move to the hamlet and live there with his wife Adriana and their five children, Virginia, Massimo, Luisa, Marta and Damiano.
Today, three siblings run the business, Massimo, Luisa and Damiano. The business has made huge progress since then. First of all, the introduction of the holiday rentals. Our beautiful Italian farmhouses have brought the estate back to life and support our farming. We are also proud to say that our farming is now all organic and soon we will be able to let you taste our very own wine.
